15-18 year olds.
It is an open drop-in session (formerly known as Afterhours) for mainly Waingel's young people.
Somewhere they can come to chill out, chat and use the equipment
in the Venue.
For the first time I can remember, one of our old Venue 139 (formerly "Afterhours") members
has become a Christian since attending a recent baptismal service,
and they now are actively getting involved.
This year we have had a real mix of young people attend. This has
normally been the club where a specific group of young people have
come and taken ownership of it, but this year we have had a real
mixed bunch of young people. We now have a very strong team on
Thursday nights who are all enthusiastic about the young people.
The young people have really been opening up to us and some have
just turned up to come and chat about issues they have within their
lives.
At the end of this year we have decided, as a team, to bring 2 of the
young people onto team with us. They have signed a contract with
me and each has a mentor. So far this is working very well, they seem
to be loving it and offering to help other nights too.
We have plans to do more interactive discussions on subjects
relevant to them, done by some of the team and also bringing in
people to lead.
Carry on the young people on team - giving them more of a role and
responsibility.
Christmas dinner - as so popular last year.
Another female to join the team
would be great and please pray
for these young people who
have so many issues going on for
them. They all need Jesus in their
lives but as so many have been
rejected by parents and those
they trust - it is hard to get close,
but they are all opening up.
